The Yonkers Malayalee Association recently hosted a grand Onam celebration, bringing together the Malayalee community for a day filled with traditional rituals, cultural performances, and festive joy. The event was a beautiful tribute to Kerala’s rich heritage, uniting families and friends in the spirit of Onam.

The celebration kicked off with a vibrant cultural program, featuring mesmerizing Thiruvathira, Mohiniyattam, and other traditional dance performances. The stage came alive with energetic music and lively folk performances, showcasing the essence of Kerala’s traditions.

A key highlight of the day was the Onam Sadhya, a grand vegetarian feast served on banana leaves, enjoyed as a traditional lunch. Attendees relished an elaborate spread of authentic Kerala dishes, including avial, sambar, olan, payasam, and more, making it a delightful experience of nostalgia and togetherness.

From the floral beauty of the Pookalam (flower carpet) to engaging community activities and games, the event truly embodied the spirit of Onam. It was a joyous occasion that strengthened cultural bonds and created cherished memories for all.
